10 more days

Sorry it's been so long for the follow up to my last one, but the site wouldn't let me access my account, and i finally figured it out right now. Anyways, a little catch up to whats happened so far since the last blog. After the last game i wrote about, our team went on a good streak of games where we won 9 out of 11 games and were making a run to get out of last place. Right when it seemed we were gonna be doing it, we lost our edge and started to lose again. So right now we're about 5 games out of 4th place in the league, and we have 4 games coming up against the team ahead of us, so if we want to get there, we have to sweep them. As far as my personal performances have gone of late, I've been doing very well minus one outing a little over a week ago. I had a streak of 11 innings where i hadn't given up a run yet and only 4 hits. I let that get into my head and thought I could keep it going, but i got too comfortable and gave up 4 runs in 2.1 innings. So I learned a good lesson that day. Since then i'm back to being a solid help to the team out of the pen. I got my first career save the other day, and it was the second outing in a row where i was used in the last inning to finish a game. So hopefully that means that for these last 10 games i'll be in the closer role, a role i've wanted my whole life. As i just said we only have 10 games left, which means in 11 days i get to go back to Fresno. Which i'm actually excited for cause i miss my family and friends. I'm only going to be back there for a little over 10 days though, because i was invited to instructs sept 18th - oct 21st. It's a time where you get one on one time with coordinators and the other pitching coaches to get better. So i'm pretty excited for that. Then i should be free until Feb. Anyways i gotta get started on the day, we have to have a good last 10 games. I'll update the blog a lot sooner than a month in between unlike this last one. Thanks for reading.

Smokahontas

So an update from the last time i blogged, a lot has happened out here so i guess i have a lot to write about. The last thing i mentioned was going out to Staten Island, so i'll start from there. Upon arriving in Staten island, we played the yankees short season team for 3 games. We took 1 outta 3 from them, which is good for us. I pitched in one game down there, and didn't do very good at all. I went 4 innings, gave up 6 runs and 8 hits, but i struck out 5. Even though i didn't get the results i wanted, i felt that i pitched the best i had since coming out here. The real fun in the trip was going into Manhattan and exploring the city of New York. It was a lot of fun and i got to go see a lot of cool places like Times Square and Ground Zero. I took a bunch of pictures that are on my facebook if you wanna see those.
After that we came back home, played a few games, then went to Mahoning Valley where i threw 3 innings of relief, and only gave up 1 run, even though it should've been 0. After we took 1 outta 2 from there we came back home and lost the next 3 games. Yesterday we played against the Mets SS team, and i came in to pitch again. I went 2.1 innings and only gave up 1 hit and no runs or walks. Even though i only had 1 strike out i felt like my normal self. After the State Island outing i've started to get back into my rhythm. It's getting easier for me to pitch and i feel more like myself. I'm really starting to have a lot more fun out here. Also while here i turned 21, but i still haven't been able to go out because we play all the time.
Tonight's game was a pretty crazy one. We took an early lead, gave it up, then tied it, then gave it up and eventually lost. The craziest part though, was that we cleared benches and almost got into a brawl. Our pitcher threw inside to try to freeze the guy, but it got away from him, and it hit the batter. The batter got pissed and said something, like he did it on purpose. Then they both started walking towards each other and the umpires jumped in the middle, and that's when the benches flooded onto the field. It was a pretty crazy experience, and was pretty interesting. The hitter was an idiot, because why in the hell would we hit someone when it's tied and in the 9th? Anyways my ps3 came in today so i'm gonna start playing that. I'll update it again soon.
PS. The name of the blog is a song. I can't stop listening to it.

Random Thoughts

So today is the first day off this season, and it was much needed. Playing a game everyday takes a toll on you, even if you only play in every 3rd game or so. I'm sure exactly what I want to do today, but i really want to see a movie, i suppose it doesn't matter which movie cause there are a lot of good movies out right now. That being said, i could just sit inside all day and relax and watch some bleach, fmab, deathnote, and listen to the new Incubus album (which is amazing so far). Either way today should be a nice relaxing day and i intend to take advantage of it. Tomorrow morning we go out to Staten Island to play the yankees Short season team. I'm pretty stoked cause i haven't ever been there and on thursday our game is at 11am so after the game we have plenty of time to explore. Lately i haven't been able to listen to anything other than Of Mice And Men and Woe, Is Me, which definitely doesn't bother me, but now that i have Incubus' new album i doubt i'll be listening to anything other than that for a while. Anyway that's about it.

First Start

So i got to the field today and i found out that tomorrow i'm getting my first pro ball start! i'm pretty pumped for it, and hopefully i do really well and i keep a starting role on the team. We won our second game in a row today which is a record for us. Hopefully this is the start of a good winning streak, because at 5-11 we really need one. I just gotta go out tomorrow and help get that 3rd win in a row. Thats all for now.

New Home

Well now i'm finally with a host family and they are pretty cool people. It should be a lot of fun. I'm staying with another player, and we live in the basement, but it's a pretty nice basement. The only thing that is kinda lame is that the basement is about 35 degrees, so i gotta have clothes on the whole time. My first outing out here didn't go nearly as well as i had hoped, but nothing ever really goes as planned. Hopefully i get to come in again soon, and i do as good as i know i can. The first few weeks i kinda missed my friends and Fresno, but the more i explore this place and get to know the guys on the team i don't really miss fresno anymore. I still miss some people, but i think i can make do with texting until i come back sometime in september.

First Bullpen

So yesterday i got to throw my first bullpen out here and it went pretty well. The pitching coach was impressed and said i did a good job! so i'm pretty stoked on that. I think today i find out when i'm pitching and if i'm starting or if i'm coming out of the pen. I think it'll be out of the pen though, because we already have a full starting rotation, but that doesn't bother me. I am now in Ohio for a three game series, it should be fun!

First Week of Minor Leagues

Well the trip out to Pittsburg to sign was pretty fun, minus the fact i had to get up at 430am to go to the airport. After flying to Arizona and then to Pittsburg, i was pretty exhausted, but i had to meet up with a rep from the team and then check out the Pirates and Orioles game that was going on. After a few innings i left because i was exhausted from my trip. I went o bed at 930pm which was the earliest I've ever been to bed before. I woke up at 4am and couldn't fall back asleep so i had to stay up until 7am which was when my physical was. So after my physical i got to watch more of another game while i waited for my physical to go through. After that i officially signed my papers and got shipped out to state college to meet the team i'll be playing on. After meeting a few of the guys, i got my gear and then went to my hotel to sleep. The next day we headed out Jamestown NY to play our first road series. It was a pretty uneventful trip, but our first game yesterday got rained out, and today isn't looking any better. More to come, time to go to the field.
